Wed 27 Feb v The Wall

After much confusion in turning up for our rescheduled game Monday only to find that it had been rescheduled for Wednesday unbeknown to most of the team. Anyway we turned up again at the Wall to find their team in fine form. Close games (black ball) again but that is to be expected, but the luck did not run our way this time and we were down 5/1 in the singles with just a mini fight back in the doubles to have a loss and final score of 6/3. The interesting part of the game was when father and son, Joe & Loue, were drawn to play each other in the singles and the doubles. Father Joe struck the first blow with a win in the singles but Loui came back in the doubles to even the score at 1 all. We are scheduled to play Blue Sky Garden at home next Monday 3 March so see you there for our last game of the season.

Fri 22 Feb

All games postponed due to elections. This apparently will apply for next week as well. Games will be rescheduled between individual teams.

Home v Rockhard

The opposition failed to show up on time and consequently forfeited the match. No phone calls left us no option but to call Shaun at 9pm who agreed that the team should forfeit. Two of their players turned up at 9.05 and their captain turned up at 9.35 to complain that he was busy cooking???? The rules are that you turn up at 9.45 to be ready to play at 9pm. Result - 9/0 win to Number 1 Pub.

Kims Birthday

Kim celebrated his birthday at Nr 1 Bistro. All the food, and there was plenty of it, was set up in the upstairs area and it was all delicious. Plenty of friends enjoyed the night and each others company. Happy Birthday Kim and thanks.

Away v Tiger Bar 8 Feb

We started out in fine fashion winning the first four games straight and then Tiger Bar fought back to win the next two games. Still a tough ask for the opposition to win all the doubles but then we had done it before and so were still not confident of an outright win. No need to worry though as we took out the first two doubles games and the last game was a close finish with both on the black. The Final result was 6/3. Next week at home against Rock Hard.

Away v Heavens Beach 1 Feb

A day out on the beach turned out to be successful but with a bit of a slow start. Of course the usual sand between the toes, on the table and loud band all helped. Although they were all close games things were looking pretty grim with Fern being the only winner for us in the first five games. The pressure was on, we had to win the last singles and all the doubles. Not a problem, Garry won the last singles game with a great shot to put the black away. Loui and Fern had a lucky escape when the other side missed the black and Fern put it away. Ron and Cedric did a good job in their game coming from behind. Now the real pressure was on at 4 all with Gary and Ric stepping up with Ric only just back from Australia and a little out of practice, but they held their own all through the game and it all came down to Ric on the black who held his nerve and sank it to give us a good win at 5/4. Roll on next week.
